STARTUPS FROM SCIENCE

STARTUPS FROM SCIENCE offers counsel on teamwork and meeting organization. The SE Project includes a number of mandatory and optional events in this context.

Kickoff Team

Immediately after the project kickoff (see schedule), each project team participates in a two hour online course facilitated by a coach of STARTUPS FROM SCIENCE. The topics are

  • Competences and engagement of the team members.
  • Social and professional roles in a team.
  • Preparation for meetings with the customer.
  • Communication, cooperation and decision making as a team.

The kickoff helps you forming your team and helps you work as a team on your project with the costumer.

The participation in this kickoff is mandatory for all team members.

Follow up Team

About a month after the project start (see schedule), your STARTUPS FROM SCIENCE coach will facilitate a 1 hour online meeting to reflect on concrete problems of your team. Possible topics for the meeting are

  • Misunderstandings between team members with respect to tasks or goals.
  • Time management.
  • Unequal division of work between team members.
  • Problems with the customer.

The coach will assist you in finding a individual solution or prepare you for the following expert talk. The main goal is to enable you to resolve such problems on your own.

The participation in this meeting is mandatory for all team members.

Pitch Training

To develop your presentation skills we offer you a 1.5-hour online presentation training. Each member of the training group is expect to prepare a presentation (5-minutes each) about a topic of your choice. The training topics are

  • Elements of a pitch presentation.
  • Presentation of your talk and video analysis.
  • Feedback from your team and the STARTUPS FROM SCIENCE coach.

The participation in this training is mandatory for those students who take the SE Project as a replacement for the Bachelor Praktikum, since the Bachelor Praktikum itself encompasses a mandatory presentation training. Participation is optional for all other participants, but you will have to decide whether or not you want to take the training in the beginning of the project. The coordinator will contact you about this.

Retro

The retrospective gives the team the opportunity to look at itself and the way it worked. The focus here is clearly on the team members, work processes and tools and answers the questions:

  • What went well in the project?
  • Where can we make improvements?
  • What are our learnings?

The retro will be offered as an online meeting for all teams and will last half an hour.

The participation in this meeting is mandatory for all team members.
